Sometimes using Huawei phones can be troublesome. Has it happened that the longer route has not been saved because the Activy application turned off while cycling/running?
The problem does not lie with our application, but with the system in Huawei phones, which may turn off the application after several minutes from the start of the route. Because of that our efforts can be wasted. Even if it happens once in a while, you may lose valuable kilometers as a result of this issue.
In the vast majority of cases, however, all you have to do is to change the settings on the phone to be able to easily save even the longest distances on the Huawei phone.
Depending on your system version, we recommend one of the following actions:
1.For phones with the EMUI 8.9 or 10 system: In the phone settings, search for "Battery" * -> "Application launcher". Make sure the option "manage automatically" is turned off, then search for Activy application and check all options related to manual management.
2. Search for "protected applications" in the phone settings and turn on protection for Activy (mainly for Huawei P8 and P8 Lite).
3.Each time you use the application, on the main screen, from the bottom bar, click the square (view of running applications) and then drag the Activy application downwards and when the lock icon appears next to it - select it.
4. Look in the settings for other items regarding battery saving and background app operation and make sure the Activy app is not affected by these mechanisms.
* the names of individual items in Settings may differ between phones. However, these differences should not be very significant. You still should easily find the settings you are interested in on your phone.
The proposed solutions turn out to be sufficient for the vast majority of devices, but Huawei developers still surprise us. Even well-known sports applications such as Strava, with tens of millions of users, also cannot always protect cyclists from battery-saving systems.
